OPEN JAZZ ORCHESTRA WORKSHOP
Finale Concert

Izmir Foundation of Culture, Arts and Education also offers education opportunities for the young jazz musicians in Izmir European Jazz Festival where the most powerful representatives of the European Jazz give concerts. The young artists who join the workshop studies started five years ago find the opportunity to play together with the leading names of the European Jazz and benefit from their experiences. The success of the concerts made open to the public at the end of the workshop studies is a pride.
The workshop studies of Izmir European Jazz Festival are also being an opportunity for the Izmir citizen young musicians to introduce themselves abroad. Tamer Temel (saxophone), and Tolga Bilgin (trumpet) who joined Mario Raja (saxophone), Bruno Tommaso (bass) and Marvi Laspina’s(piano) ‘’Jazz Band’’ workshop in the 12th Izmir European Jazz Festival, have been accepted to the International Siena Masterclasses under scholarship. This study has also continued in the 13th Izmir European Jazz Festival, Ömercan Şakar (drum) and Engin Recepoğulları (saxophone) who participated in Claudio Fasoli (saxophone) and Antonio Zambrini’s (piano) ‘’Off-Beat Orchestra’’ workshop have been accepted to the International Siena Masterclasses under scholarship. ‘’The Open Jazz Workshop’’ of the 14th Izmir European Jazz Festival was conducted by Alessandro Girotto (guitar), Ilaria Patassini (vocal), Gianfranco Benigni(cello), Stefano Cesare (contrabass) and Fulvio Maras (percusssion) and Evrim Yapıcılar (vocal) and Buğra Balcı (bass) have won the Siena scholarship. Finally, ‘’The Open Jazz Orchestra’’ Workshop of the 15th Izmir European Jazz Festival was conducted by Ricardo Luppi (saxophone, flute), Vincenzo Mingliardi (guitar), Roberto Bonati (bass) and Roberto Dani (drum) and Oğuz Özcanlı (piano) and Çağıl Çap (violin) have been awarded the right to join the 38th International Siena Jazz Masterclasses held on July 24th – August 7th 2008 under scholarship.
In the 16th Izmir European Jazz Festival, The Open Jazz Orchestra Workshop was conducted by Siena Jazz Quartet consisting of Mirco Mariotini (clarinets), Franco Fabbrini (acoustic and electric bass), Francesco Petreni (percussion and drums) and Olgun Acar (drums) and Halil Çağlar Serin (electrik bass) have been awarded the right to join the 39th International Siena Jazz Masterclasses held on July 24th – August 7th 2009 under scholarship.
In the 17th Izmir European Jazz Festival, The Open Jazz Orchestra Workshop will be conducted by Luigi Campoccia Quartet consisting Luigi Campoccia (piano), Daniele Malvisi (tenor & soprano saxophone), Rossano Gasperini (bass), Paolo Corsi (drums & percussion)
